Can I change the name of my new registered puppy?

I'm getting a dog soon and it's registered and is named already her current name is Sally Sue and I want to change it to Kia or Mercedes, but how difficult and will i be able to do that? Can I change the name of my new registered puppy?
No big deal, but out of courtesy, check with the breeder first. Can I change the name of my new registered puppy?
Yes, why not?? Just have the new forms filled out and change the name.
Yup.

Fill some paperwork out.

Pay some money. (Well it depends).

And Ta-Da! You changed your dogs name!!!
well you can call her what ever you want regardless of whats on the paper. AKC will alllow one name change of the official name on th paper if the dog has not been breed or won an award. IF the dog was individually registered by the breeder (not just a former owner) the breeder must grant written permision.

Depends on the registry.

AKC will allow name changes IF, the dog has not earned any points or titles and the dog has not produced any registered litters. It costs money to do it.

I personally would not worry about changing the registered name. You can easily change the call name. Just start calling the dog by her new name and she will learn it.
