How much would it cost, is it hard to do ect?
My horse has a kinda cool flowy name. But I always oooo and aww at horses with super cute names like..
Face it im Good
Watch this one ect
ThanksCan I change a AQHA registered name?
There is a fee of $50 for members, along with a $30 handling fee. You can only change the name of the horse has never been shown, earned points, earned a special recognition, bred, earned money, or raced. This would cause confusion to anyone that needed to look the horse up. I doubt it is hard to do, however you want to find a great name that you love if you really want to spend $80 and you need to make sure that he has never been shown/raced/bred.Can I change a AQHA registered name?
No real need to as few people actually refer to their horses by their registered names.
You can change the registered name, I believe the fee is $50.00, if the horse has never been shown or raced, so basically does not have a show or race record with AQHA. All you have to do is contact AQHA and submit the fee with an acceptable name that you would like, as long as it is not currently being used.
Yes you can change the name, but if she has a good name, or a show record I do not recomment it as people know her by that, as well as if her name includes any of her ancestors that may be famous, such as Doc, or Poco because that adds to her value if you ever plan on selling. As above, there is a fee.
You could but there isn't a need to to if it's a 'kinda cool flowy name' it could also cause confusion if she is lost, stolen, or you ever breed her.
Late answer, but here's my input:
There is a fee for changing your horse's name. It is $50 if you are a member, or $90 if you are not.
If your horse has been shown at AQHA shows and won ANYTHING, you don't want to change his/her name, as it has points attached to it. You change the name, you lose the points, and if you ever want to sell him later on, the more points, the better.
What's your horse's name, if you don't mind my asking?
EDIT: By the way, there is only a handling fee if you want to rush the paperwork.
You can see all fees, etc. here:
