She is a very nice looking mare.

I was in the same place you were. I bought a Quarter Horse by the name of Arthur Be a Talking. His name was really silly. I was able to change it to Zips Sweet Terms when we sent the papers in to get him registered under my name.

As long as she does not have any points on her (from Quarter horse shows) you can do it through AQHA. If she does, than when you show her at Quarter Horse (if you are going to show there) than you need to go by the name on her paper as they need them to enter you in the classes. If you are just showing at club shows, than you can call her anything you wish. What do you think of this 5 year old mare?? oh and can i change her registered name?
My horse's name is Fresca,QH name ';Wimpy Zippo Pine'; he comes from the famous QH's Wimpy and Zippo Pine Bar.Wimpy was a famous King Ranch QH.He is my horse's reallyyyy great grandfather haha. And Zippo Pine Bar is his great grandfather. He is an event horse though we don't follow in grandfathers footsteps!
cute and you can change her name you can do it quick but unofficial by just changing it or talk to where you got her from and rename it it's your choice!
Shes cute =]
You can change her registered name by going to http://www.aqha.com and reading the rules there. I think there is a $50 fee and you will also have to pay membership fees, or the cost will be more. You'll have to send in her current registration papers and probably list several choices for new names and they'll pick one and send you new papers for her. Click on the link that says Forms, there is probably a form to print out and mail in with her papers.

My advice would be to keep the name she has and call her whatever you want. There's nothing really wrong with her name--Quarter Horse names are usually like that.

As for her photos, they aren't the best to judge her conformation, but she looks pretty good for a riding horse. In the first photo she appears to be ewe necked, but with more riding and conditioning her neck and topline should improve. Her shoulder is good. Hind legs look a little funny, but it's hard to say if anything's wrong with them, it could just be the photo or the way she's standing.

Anyway, sounds like you are thrilled with your new horse, and that's the main thing. Have fun!
If she comes with her breed registration you should be able to change her name when you send it in to change her owners name. I think she looks pretty cute though. How tall is she? She doesn't look real big, that it one thing you'll want to think about. but as long as you aren't planing on growing and she doesn't look to small for you now than that's fine. If she is only five she may still grow an inch or two, and that makes a big difference. I hope I helped :)
