How can I change the registered owner's name on windows xp mce.?

When I bought my laptop the idiot technician helped setup my windows Media Center Edition installation and when asked entered 'HP' as to whom the registered owner was. Now all software I use automatically assumes my name is HP. It's really annoying the crap out of me. Please help!!!How can I change the registered owner's name on windows xp mce.?

How to change registered owner`s name on Win XP

1- Run regedit

2- Find and go to below key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\鈥?NT\Current Version

3-Change your name in following subkey :Registered Owner

Be successful!

find the key ';RegisteredOwner'; at:



HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\鈥?br>


then change it to whatever you want

and you can change company name here in the similar way: change RegisteredOrganization key
