How do I change System Properties?

OK, it might seem a little odd to be asking how to change the registered information on a computer, but I have a used computer that I am using which has registered information under ';System Properties'; with the previous owners name.

I tried contacting eMachines by a link in the Support Information but you need warranty information or receipt details, which I do not have!

Here is exactly what I am talking about:

System:

Microsoft Windows XP

Home Edition

Version 2002

Service Pack 3

Registered to: removed for obvious reasons

76477-OEM-0011903-00103

Manufactured and supported by: e Machines

To fix the ';Registered to'; information for WinNT/2K/XP, you can use

Start %26gt; Run %26gt; Regedit.exe to edit:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\RegisteredOwner

and:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current

Version\RegisteredOrganization

or you can use this little program to do it for you:

Utility: Change Registered Owner:

Get a fresh genuine copy of Windows XP, and install it on this computer.

When you do, don't register it, just Activate it.

Its a lil tricky, requires you to edit the system registery.

has a guide on how to do it.
