and his Registered name is ';Fourlands Star';

which comes from his previous home..

';Fourlands Farm'; he is registered with this name and i have no idea how to change it..

Does anyone know how? or have you changed your horses registered name? how did you do it? and also does anyone know the rules? any websites etc?

he is passported and has this name on his passport and everything so im not really sure who to contact?

Any help would be really appreciated!!

And if anyone has got any exciting names what i could change it to then feel free to share your ideas? :)

Thankyou

you are going to be very limited as to the name change for this reason.

The name of a registered horse must include the mothers name and the fathers name, for bloodline tracing purposes.

You keep that name that he is registered as, and just ';nickname'; him something else.My horses registered name.. please help?

Well ma'am i have 4 horses myself and once they have a registered name you cant change it because that was their name since birth and once they have a name there's really no chance. Sorry.
for help with a new name, im pretty sure that horses names usually have something to do with their sires names. at least my horses name does. like, her sires name was the intimidator, and her name is intimidating tara and just tara for her barn name. so if you know his sires name, maybe that'll help.
You need to contact the breed association that your horse is registered with (if it is a thoroughbred, contact the Jockey Club, if it is a quarter horse, contact the AQHA, etc.). Each registry has different rules, and only an official of that registry will be able to tell you if the registered name can be changed, and if so, how to go about doing it. If the name chage is allowed, any other documents besides the breed registration that contain your horse's registered name need to be changed to reflect the new name.
Some registries allow name changes for a fee. You should check on-line for your registries site, and their rules of registration. These vary by breed.

If your horse has ever been used for competion, or breeding - you probably won't be able to change it's name. Once a history is established, most registries will not allow name changes.

If you are able to change your horse's name, you will have to follow the registration's naming rules.

Personally, I think Star is a beautiful name, and he did come from Fourlands...
