My son found out he has a 3 yr old what are his rights as a father?

he is not listed on the birth certificate but wants to be. the mother keeps finding excuses not to meet him and register the change. since he has found out about the boy he has him almost every weekend but would like legal visitation how can he obtain his legal rights as a father? My son found out he has a 3 yr old what are his rights as a father?
It depends on the jurisdiction. In most, if he is not listed, then he will have to take a paternity test to prove hs claim. Legally, he has NO rights as a father. He has to be careful because the child's mother is the custodian of the child and the court WILL not grant joint custody unless the mother is found to be unfit. He WILL be REQUIRED to pay child support, and MAY be granted visitation. They are NOT automatically tied together. They are separate issues Your best bet is to contact a family law attorney and discuss your son's options with them
